We're a small group who like to make meaningful games. Our current team consists of f, the artist, programmer, and lead story writer; c, the one who aids in reworking the story and editing the dialogue and writing for a more natural flow; and sm, the main musician.
ektomarch started with the initial development of Subbania, a black and white horror-themed metroidvania, in August of 2010. It had originally started as a game about undersea pirates looking for treasure, but as the tone of the game grew increasingly dark, a new plot began to brew. The result was a tale of a crusty Nazi captain and his young crew members who were blissfully unaware of the atrocities their country was committing, as well as the fact they'd unwittingly died and ended up in Hell. The captain is not so ignorant, and searches for a way to atone for his personal sins and save the souls of his crew. While not tremendously financially successful, it garnered a small fanbase. Some publishers approached ektomarch with offers to publish it on mobile, but not wanting to make an already difficult game unbearably frustrating with touchscreen controls, these offers were declined.Recent
After nearly a year long hiatus following the release of Subbania, ektomarch began work on another game: Aerannis. Wanting yet another metroidvania but becoming increasingly interested in stealth games, we decided to throw them together into one game. In the midst of Aerannis's development, two small side projects were made: PanicCircle, a simple mobile puzzlish game and MacroDepression, a brief game about how many real people suffer with debilitating depression.
